How Me Met

Me and T12

Well, it depends on who’s telling the story because if you ask Melanie, you’ll get the sweet, heartfelt, love story…and if you ask Terrence, you’ll get the uncut, comedy-filled version!

It was Good Friday, April 6, 2007 to be exact when Melanie and Terrence met for the very first time.  Melanie had called her girlfriends, Kendra and Marvina, to get together for Happy Hour at Stan’s in D.C. after work that Friday.  Terrence and his friends came to Stan’s after picking up their friend, Jason, from Union Station.  Nothing happens by coincidence, but, for Melanie and her Girls to get together after it had been such a long time since they had seen each other, and for Terrence, who does not drink, to be in a bar, was rather rare.

Melanie and the ladies were standing in the bar area waiting to be seated at a table when Terrence and his friends walked in and proceeded to make their way to the bar and set up camp. Melanie noticed Terrence out of the corner of her eye, but, did not make anything of it.  About ten minutes went by, and Terrence, who was standing right next to us, started to make his way into the conversation (like most men do when they’re standing around a bunch of women :)).

Melanie and Terrence talked until their table was ready, they exchanged phone numbers, and Melanie noticed written on Terrence’s business card the date April 18th.  At the time, Terrence was a Recruiter for Ergo Solutions, recruiting Physical Therapists, and he was hosting a recruiting event on April 18th; he thought it would be a great event for Melanie to attend to network with potential homebuyers.  Well, before Melanie left to go to her table, Terrence leaned in close, handed her his business card, and softly said into her ear, “Don’t let April 18th be the next time I see you.”  Of course, that sparked Melanie’s interest even more, but, she wasn’t going to let him know just yet.

Easter morning, Melanie went to early service, then went to the grocery store after church to buy a few more things for the annual Easter Brunch she and her friend, Kendra, have every year.  When she got back to her car, she noticed that she had a missed call and a voicemail from a phone number she didn’t recognize.  Melanie checked the voicemail, and low and behold, it was a message from Terrence, “Good morning, Melanie, I wanted to wish you and your family a Happy Easter, give me a call when you have the chance.”  Melanie called Terrence back, he answered, however, he couldn’t talk for long because he was walking into church at the time.

Terrence called Melanie back after church, and the rest is history…

Meeting Tyson and Kenyon

Tyson Alexander and Kenyon Allan are Terrence’s smart, charismatic, active sons. Tyson, age 12, enjoys playing baseball, doing science projects, and everything that has anything to do with flying an airplane.

Kenyon, age 10, loves to draw, play baseball, and watch Sponge Bob Square Pants!  He says he would like to become an Anthropologist someday and study ancient Rome; this was inspired by the European Adventure we took last summer for Terrence’s 40th birthday.

Miss Melly, is what the boys call, Melanie, and she loves it!
